A native of Wisconsin, Marian lived there her entire life—until January of 2018. She moved to Knoxville to be near her daughter, Toni and to enjoy a warmer climate. She considers herself fortunate to be exploring such a beautiful area! You will find her hiking the trails, or in the parks walking with her dog, Sandy. She also enjoys reading motivational books, going to concerts, and traveling. Some days you will find her greeting and assisting folks at the front desk at Blue Ridge Yoga, or on her mat enjoying one of the many classes at the studio.

Marian is grateful everyday that her daughter gave her the beautiful gift of yoga. Five years ago while grieving the loss of her 96-year-old mother, Marian’s beloved husband of 26 years passed away from a sudden heart attack. Just as she was contemplating how she would deal with all of this grief, her daughter suggested she attend a yoga class with her. “Yoga?" Marian questioned— “how is that going to help me? Yoga is something I did in the 70’s when it was the cool thing to do!” Reluctantly she attended that class with her daughter. Soon she began to look forward to her time on the mat. She began experiencing many physical improvements too-- better sleep, improved flexibility and range of motion, and lower blood pressure. Her daughter was right—this was the peace she was longing for; yoga spoke to her soul, and she has been practicing since that day.

After retiring from the business world, Marian completed the Therapeutic Massage
program at Madison College in 2016 and became licensed as a massage therapist. In 2017 she
completed her 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training with Jackie Chiodo (Joyful Yoga) in Costa Rica.
She feels that yoga and massage will allow her to work with people on a deeper level –one
where she could make a difference in the quality of their life.

Marian truly believes every person can benefit from yoga regardless of their physical
body or level of abilities. She hopes to be an inspiration to older adults and encourage them to
adopt a yoga practice as a way to improve their well-being and to give them the tools they need
to face the challenges of growing older.

Marian is thrilled to be a member of the Blue Ridge Yoga team and looks forward to
getting to know you!
