Blue Ridge Yoga Studio took to the wooded vistas of Tennessee’s Big South Fork for a weekend retreat of gentle yin yoga, hiking, mindful meditation and Ayurveda* catered cuisine. Twenty-six yogis spent the weekend unplugged in nature with a variety of activities including hiking, yoga, and meditation with evening campfires.
The group experienced a 4-mile hike among limestone rock formations, natural vistas, wildflowers and falling water. From Twin Arches the group descended a one-mile path to Charit Creek Lodge where guests were treated to exclusive meals catered by Ayurveda Chef and yoga practitioner, Windy Melvin. Sharing her knowledge of Ayurveda cooking and preparation, Wendy amazed and delighted all with meals prepared to ease the body from travel and hiking with menus rich in fresh organic fruits and vegetables.
Ayurveda, the science and holistic approach to foods, food preparation, and eating is hundred of years in the making. Ayurveda is clear that all good health starts with digestion and with the proper metabolism of food. Each day of hiking, yoga and meditation was closed under the star filled sky around community campfire. With the overwhelming response from attendees, Blue Ridge Yoga will be hosting the next mindful yoga retreat, fall 2017.
