Ecstatic Dance: August 30th @ 7pm
Ecstatic Dance is a free-form, unstructured dance (not a class) that allows for freedom to express our unique self through authentic movement within a supportive and respectful community.
What to expect: The dances are done in a softly lit room to music that's been creatively sequenced in a wave-like pattern (Google: 5 Rhythms by Gabrielle Roth) in order produce a feeling of natural ecstasy, hence the name.
The music will be a mix of tribal, bass, house, drum, trap, trance, down tempo & ambient (w/ little to no lyrics).
We honor the dance & want to create a sacred space for others to drop deep into the experience. It is for this reason we ask that there is NO TALKING OR DRUG/ALCOHOL USE during the dance. Thank you for honoring this.
The dance is open to everyone! No partner or dance experience required. We practice non-judgment so we may allow others to fully let go in the dance & we in turn can do the same. Your dance can be whatever you need it to be. It can be somber, playful, tribal, still, high intensity....it’s up to you.
Please dress comfortably and bring a water bottle.
Kava Koncoctions will be served before the dance @ $5/kocktail. Kava is a tea made from the roots of the Piper Methysticum plant that grows natively in the South Pacific. It is known to promote relaxation and deep focus.
OPEN TO THE PUBLIC!
Cost: $10-20 sliding scale. Your support ensures these events can keep happening so thank you. ♥
7pm: Warm up/ Stretch (or sip some kava)
7:30pm: Opening circle (w/general instruction about the dance)
